We kicked off our fraction unit by making fraction kits. We made one whole and then 1/2, 1/4, 1/8 and 1/16 pieces. We have played "Cover Up" to begin to explore the concepts of the unit and to discover that there is more than one way to represent part of a whole. We have begun to learn new vocabulary as well... numerator, denominator, equivalent... We have also discovered many patterns too. As the denominator gets larger, the size of the fractional part gets __________!
