Students, what was your favorite part about getting the share ready to present? For example: My favorite part was writing the questions with my group. I liked this because we all got to think of our own ideas.
On Friday, we shared at Assembly. Our topic was "Rules and Expectations When a Substitute is in The Classroom." The class chose to do a game show and there were Halloween themed teams. So proud of my class! Students, what was your favorite part about getting the share ready to present? For example: My favorite part was writing the questions with my group. I liked this because we all got to think of our own ideas.

Today Mrs. Martin came to our class to teach us all about Native Americans. She taught us all about the natural resources in our environment and how the Native Americans used them in their daily life. We went on a nature walk and discovered lots of the things that she talked about were right across the street from John Lyman! Have a headache? Need to draw or write something? Milkweed, bone setter, nuts, berries- so many neat and useful things. Student Question: Students, what was your favorite part of the walk today? Today we made a number line with islands represented by counting by tens. When we rounded, we found out that it was easy to think of it as "island hopping!" Which island are you closer to? Thanks for visiting the class website! If you made it here, I hope you have received my summer letter. On the class blog, I enjoy posting pictures and updates as the year unfolds to keep you all talking about school... outside of school! I also like to post questions for you to answer. We always make sure we check our spelling and keep the blog comments school oriented. Also, please only use your first name when you respond and we do not include personal information. Internet safety is important! If you are not comfortable doing this yet, it's okay. We will talk more about it once we are back at school. Give It A Try!So, here is my first challenge for you all. I want to hear a story about your summer, but not just any story, a math story. Think about something you did this summer that was fun and remember who you did it with. Then, see if you can build a math word problem for your peers to answer. Here is an example:
I went to a store in North Carolina called Wings. I bought a new shirt for $10.50 and a cool hat for $8.50. When I went to check out, how much did I spend in all? Now it's your turn. Feel free to answer other people's problem by hitting "reply" under the post. It was so great meeting you all! I could see the rising 4th graders' faces light up as they saw their new classmates. Feel free to post on the website over the summer! Congratulations to all the fourth graders who were recognized at the Assembly today. I am not alone when I say "I am so proud of you." If any parents want the pictures emailed to them, just let me know! |
