We have started our unit on probability. Today, we played around with spinners and dice and talked about some key vocabulary:
more likely, less likely, fair, unfair, impossible, possible, probable, not probable. So students, I have a task for you- Make up a sentence, using one of the key vocabulary terms above, to match the spinner below. You also need to say if it is a fair spinner or an unfair spinner. For example: "It is likely that the spinner will land on blue." (There is no blue! I can't give you the answer!) Still life is the best subject in art for learning and teaching the skills of drawing and painting. It teaches you how to look at objects and see them like an artist - with a perceptive awareness of their outline, shape, proportions, tone, color, texture, form and composition.
Every student at John Lyman will be drawing a shell to see how our drawing skills change and develop as we get older. We have been working on Haikus here in the classroom. We have learned that a HAIKU is a Japanese poem with three lines. Haikus are usually about nature, and they seldom rhyme.
